Recently, a friend shared an article from the Reader’s Digest that she had saved for years. The author is unknown, but has spoken a very vital word of wisdom. Here is what the article said.

“Both the hummingbird and the vulture fly over nation’s deserts.

All vultures see is rotting meat, because that is what they look for. They thrive on that diet.

But hummingbirds ignore the smelly flesh of dead animals. Instead, they look for the colorful blossoms of desert plants.

The vultures live on what was. They live on the past. They fill themselves with what is dead and gone.

But hummingbirds live on what is. They seek new life. They fill themselves with freshness and live. Each bird finds what it is looking for. We all do.”

Let’s humble ourselves and pray that in the deserts of life we find the colorful blossoms of His love and life that He offers. Let us seek new life and be filled with freshness that we might give a message of hope to all around us. May we be the beautiful, blazing Bride that shines brightly in the “market place”!
